Dr. Susan Lim in 1990 became the first person ever in the history of Asia to successfully complete a liver transplant. Dr. Susan Lim is a native of Singapore and has even received awards for her medical work, marking her as an ideal role model for the 21st century. Dr. Susan Lim has lived in Singapore for a long time and was both born and education there. She attended the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School. She then went to the Raffles Institution. Singapore is not a particularly large country—consisting of sixty-three islands—but it has an outsized influence on the financial sector, medical field, and other industries.

Dr. Susan Lim went to Monash University in Australia after leaving the Raffles Institution. This is the second oldest university in Victoria, having been founded in 1958. It has one of the largest student bodies in all of Australia and is known for advanced research centers—including the Australian Stem Cell Centre.

Dr. Susan Lim founded a company called Stem Cell Technologies in 2003 that specialized in biotechnologies. In 2004, Dr. Lim was made the first Singaporean Fellow at Trinity College at the University of Melbourne, as well as the youngest Fellow ever.

The Indiapore Trust was founded by Dr. Susan Lim

The Indiapore Trust is a charitable organization that was founded by Dr. Susan Lim, her husband, and a mutual friend of theirs. The Indiapore Trust’s main goal is to provide educational opportunities that would otherwise not be available to underprivileged children in the South-Pacific region.

The Indiapore Trust gave the Raffles Junior College a free science lab in an effort to improve science education at that institution. On top of that, a number of underprivileged children in both Singapore and India have been able to benefit from scholarships given by Indiapore Trust.

Dr. Susan Lim is a native of Singapore—born, raised, and mostly educated on the island nation. Up until medical school, she had received all of her schooling in Singapore, attending the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School first, and then The Raffles Institution. After that, Susan Lim went to Australia in order to attend medical school at Monash University.

In 1990, Dr. Susan Lim became the very first person in Asia to successfully complete a liver transplant. She is a very successful surgeon by any measure and is definitely a well respected surgeon both in Singapore and in Asia more generally.

Dr. Susan Lim Operates Out Of Singapore

One of the most well-known surgeons in Asia, Dr. Susan Lim, is based in Singapore where she was born, raised, and continues to live. Dr. Susan Lim operates out of Singapore, doing most of her work in two of Singapore’s premier hospitals, Gleneagles and Mount Elizabeth. Dr. Susan Lim attended the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School and The Raffles Institution. Susan Lim received a scholarship to attend Monash University in Australia where she studied medicine. Her scholarship was part of the Colombo Plan, which was designed to foster economic and social development in the Asian Pacific region. In 1990 she would become famous throughout Singapore and Asia for becoming the first person to successfully perform a liver transplant on the continent.

Stem Cell Technologies was the name of the biotechnology firm started by Dr. Susan Lim in 2003. In 2004, Dr. Susan Lim joined Trinity College at the University of Melbourne, Australia, as a Fellow. She and her husband, along with a with, started a charity called the Indiapore Trust. The mission of the Indiapore Trust is to provide educational opportunities to children from the countries in the region that they would not otherwise have. The Indiapore Trust has handed out numerous scholarships to deserving students as well as donating a science laboratory to the Raffles Junior College.
